achieve this result, Levico decided to become a <strong>Climate Positive<\/strong> company: a company that takes out of the atmosphere more CO2 than it emits, even considering its future growth.<\/p>\n<p>Levico wants to demonstrate that a new business model \u2013 a model that places people and environment at the centre \u2013 is possible.<\/p>\n<p>To do that, Levico embarked on a path, a non-easy and demanding path that requires intense dedication and several years of hard work In Levico, there is a strong awareness that sustainability is a complex concept and its realization is a challenge that requires a serious and long-term strategy. This is the reason why Levico knows that there is still work to do, but is also convinced that each small step, each tiny achievement in this sense represents something to be proud of.<\/p>\n<h4><em><strong>But how can a company become Climate Positive?<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<p>The answer is MARC: an approach that consists in <strong><em>M<\/em><\/strong><em>easuring <\/em>the impacts, <strong><em>A<\/em><\/strong><em>voiding<\/em> them whenever possible; considering the climate-related <strong><em>R<\/em><\/strong><em>isks<\/em> for the own activities; and, lastly, supporting projects that generate positive impacts to <strong><em>C<\/em><\/strong><em>ommunicate<\/em> the entire story.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"dfd-spacer-module\"  data-units=\"px\" data-wide_resolution=\"1280\" data-wide_size=\"50\" data-normal_resolution=\"1024\" data-normal_size=\"50\" data-tablet_resolution=\"800\" data-tablet_size=\"40\" data-mobile_resolution=\"480\" data-mobile_size=\"30\" style=\"height: 50px;\"><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row dfd_enable_overlay=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column]<div class=\"dfd-spacer-module\"  data-units=\"px\" data-wide_resolution=\"1280\" data-wide_size=\"30\" data-normal_resolution=\"1024\" data-normal_size=\"30\" data-tablet_resolution=\"800\" data-tablet_size=\"20\" data-mobile_resolution=\"480\" data-mobile_size=\"10\" style=\"height: 30px;\"><\/div>[dfd_tta_tabs style=&#8221;empty_style&#8221; font_size=&#8221;20&#8243; tab_text_color=&#8221;#7c7b7b&#8221; tab_hover_text_color=&#8221;#3fa535&#8243; tab_active_color_text=&#8221;#3fa535&#8243; gap=&#8221;5&#8243; icon_size=&#8221;30&#8243; active_section=&#8221;1&#8243;][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;MEASURE&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1581419514721-eace2f21-0e2e&#8221;][vc_column_text]From 2012 Levico measures its environmental footprint: first with the <strong>BNeutral<\/strong> standard (organization <em>footprint approach<\/em>) and then, from 2018, widening the scope of the analysis by adopting the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.environdec.com\/library\/_?Epd=16573\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Life Cycle Assessment<\/strong> (<em>LCA<\/em>)<\/a> approach to consider, in addition to CO2 emissions,<sub>all the other impacts such as water resources use, PM emissions, etc.<\/sub> This project led to the <strong>obtaining of theEnvironmental Product Declaration<\/strong> (<em>EPD<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Today, Levico knows that to produce and deliver bottled water it emits 7,000 tons of CO2, equal to the annual emissions of 1,000 Italian citizens.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;AVOID&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1581419514766-26f8aa10-e307&#8243;][vc_column_text]Levico Acque has <strong> always solely and exclusively produced water in returnable glass bottles. <\/strong>. Despite the pressure of the market that, especially in the past, demanded plastic bottles, Levico decided to forgo its own market expansion to keep delivering in our houses and restaurants a <strong>tangible demonstration of respect for nature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, from 2012 Levico implemented the following activities to avoid its impacts:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Total reduction of plastic use<\/strong> (now present only in the strapping of the cap;<\/li>\n<li>New design of the bottle to <strong>reduce wear<\/strong> and triple, <strong>from 10 to 30<\/strong>, the number of times the bottle can be reused without ending up in the landfill. Each scratch on a Levico\u2019s glass bottle is one less scratch on our planet; Each scratch on a Levico\u2019s glass bottle is one less scratch on our planet;<\/li>\n<li>Installation of <strong>photovoltaic plant<\/strong>on 100% of the available roof of the headquarter;<\/li>\n<li>Purchase <strong>exclusively of energy from renewable sources<\/strong> to power its plants;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Insulation<\/strong> and <strong>energy<\/strong> <strong>efficiency<\/strong> in the headquarter;<\/li>\n<li>Substitution of all the light bulbs with<strong>low-energy LED<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Substitution of obsolete machineries with <strong>high energy saving machineries<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Systemic recycling of own waste<\/strong> and preference for materials with high percentages of recycled materials;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reuse of items<\/strong> that, even if aged, can still perform their function to reduce additional resource use (<strong>e.g. the boxe<\/strong>s used for the delivery of Levico\u2019s Water are up to 30 years old).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In the following lines the actions \u2013 <strong>planned with 2030<\/strong> and approved by the Board of Levico Acque \u2013 to further reduce the company\u2019s impacts are presented:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Selection of truck drivers and partners for delivery using <strong>EURO6 vehicles<\/strong> or vehicles with the best environmental standards; moreover, particular attention will be paid to the human aspect, favouring companies and suppliers that guarantee an adequate treatment to their employees;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sustainable home-to-work mobility<\/strong> of Levico\u2019 staff by informing and incentivizing employees to go to work walking, biking, by train, with <em>car-pooling<\/em>, <em>car-sharing<\/em> or with cars that use less polluting fuels (LPG, methane, electric cars, etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Informing and favouring <strong>sustainable mobility<\/strong> in <strong>office-clients-suppliers transfers<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Providing the merchant fleet with<strong>low-impact vehicles<\/strong> (LPG, methane, electric cars);<\/li>\n<li>Promoting among restaurateurs the purchase of <strong>responsible<\/strong> (recycled or from renewable sources) <strong>materials<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Adoption of a <strong><em>smart working<\/em><\/strong> policy (work from home) to reduce home-to-work transfers;<\/li>\n<li>Purchase exclusively of <strong>FSC<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong>&#8211;<strong>certified<\/strong> (FSC-N003120) paper material for packaging, labels and printed materials;<\/li>\n<li>Working with suppliers to help them to <strong>convert<\/strong> their power plants and direct energy purchase towards renewable energy sources;<\/li>\n<li>Promotion among the staff of <strong>environmental good practices<\/strong>(e.g. recycling, environmental volunteering, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Purchase of 100% of the materials from renewable sources or recycled material.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Savings, reuse, recycling, Levico Acque has always been active and sensitive to behaviours that increase circular economy, not only within its own production cycle but also engaging with suppliers and clients. <\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;RISK&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1581428930088-6be73691-aaf8&#8243;][vc_column_text]The three main risks and the related mitigation strategies identified are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Damages from extreme weather evens to production plants (floods, strong wind, etc.). <strong>The headquarter is not located in an area subjected to hydrogeological risk<\/strong> and the recent renovation of the building made it resistant to strong winds;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Limitations to movement of goods<\/strong> in urban areas due to limits in PM10 and CO2 emission from transports. This risk will be addressed by incentivizing and selecting truck drivers with the highest environmental standards;<\/li>\n<li>Damage to pumping systems near water springs caused by extreme weather events and\/or poor forest management. Levico Acque takes care of the forests around Levico springs and works with their public and private owners to <strong>improve<\/strong> their management and promote the FSC<sup>\u00ae <\/sup>certification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;COMMUNICATE&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1581428991780-340cd8e6-5175&#8243;][vc_column_text]Levico Acque has been supporting projects that protect existing forests and create new ones since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, Levico Acque collaborates with WOWnature, an Etifor project (a spin-off of the University of Padua), to avoid carbon dioxide and remove it from the atmosphere, thus generating a positive climate impact.<\/p>\n<p>The number of ongoing projects allows Levico Acque to balance the amount of CO2 that cannot be avoided for technological reasons.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Levico Acque supports the following projects:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Venice: Blue Valley<\/strong> promotion of responsible management of the fishing valleys in the Venetian Lagoon;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alps and Dolomites:<\/strong> promotion of responsible forest management in compliance with FSC<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> standards and recovery of the forests hit by the VAIA windstorm near Brennero and Meltina (Alto Adige), Val di Fiemme, Bosco Pizzotto and Arte Sella (Valsugana);<\/li>\n<li><strong>Padua:<\/strong> planting and maintenance of new urban forests with 1,000 trees;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Provinces of Venice and Padua:<\/strong> <strong>Parco Fiume Brenta<\/strong>, forest management improvement along river Brenta;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Florence and Tuscany<\/strong>: protection of forests from fire at Unione Comuni della Valdarno e Valdisieve (Union of Municipalities of Valdarno and Valdisieve);<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sicily<\/strong>: planting a new food forest in Catania.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Discover all of Levico Acque\u2019s forestry projects on: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wownature.eu\/levico-acque\/\">https:\/\/www.wownature.eu\/levico-acque\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wownature.eu\/levico-acque\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12674 size-medium\" role=\"img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.levicoacque.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/WOWnature-logo%C2%AE.svg\" alt=\"WOW Nature\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\"><\/a>All forestry projects supported by Levico Acque FSC<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> certified.
